The Investment Strategies Program (ISP)
is an on-line learning opportunity, consisting of in-class
learning activities and on-line stock market simulation.
Working in partnership with the teacher
for one semester, volunteers share their experiences and insights
into finance and business with students.
Qualifications
- Fundamental business or financial
knowledge
- Desire to work with youth ages
13-15
- Good communication skills
Responsibilities
- Visit the classroom 4-5 times
during the semester
- Coach students during the on-line
simulation
- Bring practical experience to
reinforce concepts taught in each class
- Maintain ongoing communication
with teacher
- Work with materials provided by Junior
Achievement
Training
You will be required to attend a 2 hour
training session provided by the JA staff where we will introduce
the learning activities and the on-line simulation. Next training

Time Commitment

September - November
Volunteers are asked to make 2-3
classroom visits (one hour each) arranged to suit the
schedule of the volunteer. The purpose of these visits
is to facilitate the pre-simulation learning activities
developed by Junior Achievement. These activities are
designed to provide the learning foundation for success
in the on-line simulation.

November - December
Students compete in the on-line
stock market simulation. Volunteers are asked to make
2-3 classroom visits (one hour each) arranged to suit
the schedule of the volunteer. Volunteers coach the
students in the on-line simulation.
The program is also offered in
the spring semester in 2009. |
